1797 -" A New Game Cabinet of Knowledge
And its secrets Being
Set of question and answer cards
Explanatory of
Morality, Arts, Sciences && for the improvement of youth"
From the label - copy availabe
30 Questions and 30 Answers cards.
There is a copy in Edinburgh Museum, with pictures, which confirms the title and manufacturer.
This game is similar to Geographical Conversations (1799 - John Wallis) and would have had an "Answer Sheet" which would link the question number to the letter at the base of the answer card. The questions are varied and quite difficult, especially when considering what the correct answer would have been over 200 years ago. (We cannot track an Answer Sheet in the Museums that have the cards.)
Condition / Cabinet of Knowledge - Complete / Cards 30 Question Cards (numbered 1 to 30) and Answer Cards with a letter on the base. The cards are lightly used

The Mount of Knowledge (1804) taught that education was a hard-fought process and good decisions would lead to “the mount of knowledge,” but bad decisions would take one back a few steps.

Players start on space one (the Horn Book) and would begin to learn their letters. On their next roll, they can move forward on the board (signifying that they learned their letters).
But, the players had to be careful what spaces they landed on as some of them signified the folly common among young students such as carelessness, truancy, and idleness.
Published and sold by W Richardson, Library, Greenwich;
Also Sold by John Harris, John Wallis and Darton, probably at different times and over a peroid of time.

Condition - Mount of Knowledge / Sheet Stained and a little grubby as per the picture. / Slipcase - Original - scuffed and faded but the Title is legible / rules lacking - but a photcopy is available and can be printed from the V&A web site, which explain every circle

An rare and unusual game designed especially for children to play on the Sabbath.
It was hoped that this game "an aid to a correct apprececiation of the sacred character of the day, at the same time as it affords to young, as well as old, an agreeable and not unprofitable mode of passing a few spare hours."
The rules explain in detail how the words should be constructed with the different color letters, and suggest it could be used for text from poets and writers as well.

Condition - Scripture Text Pastime - No list of letters is avaiable but the box appears very full / Letters all in very good condition, some have a less ornate version on the letter on the back (hand written) as suggested in the rules. / Rules - mint / Box very good - slight rubbing to the edge of the label.
