Printed in London for Newbery & Wallis, 1791

The Utilities of the Game state “this being a scientific game, in which the amusement and Instruction of the parties are equally considered….this, while it will amuse, will not a little contribute to make the Players acquainted with the Genealogy of their own King”.

Playing The Game - When you land on a space, you then read the details, on the sheet, about the monarch and whether they were regarded as good or bad (or neutral). Your move depends on the monarch landed on, and the game’s view of them

Henry VIII - “as the treatment of his queens was so unjustified, the player must go back to No 1”

Edward III - “was a great and valiant prince, the player moves forward two numbers"

Condition – Sheet – undamaged, well colored and clean; some foxing and a stain on the right hand rules (about 5cms by 5cms) / Rules and descriptions all on the sheet – easy to read (with long S) / Slipcase – Good; scuffed but complete with label / Sheet and slipcase both dated 30th Nov 1791

The game offers a lesson in Ranks and Dignities of the British Peerage, Clergy and Military; it was published in 1822. The rules book (not present) includes a dedication to the future Queen Victoria
This game is beautiful hand-coloured engraved, mounted in nine sections on linen, showing an Ostrich, with twenty egg-shaped portraits of dignitaries, clergy and men of military importance
The game was printed by William Darton - Map Seller - 58 Holburn Hill London, and he made the dedication to the future Queen Victoria. There are only two copies listed in museums.

The Majestic Game of the Asiatic Ostrich, - Condition: Slipcase - a little dark but undamaged / manufacture's label on the back / Photocopy of rules / Playing Sheet is very beautiful and in very good condition - no tears or paper damage - but there is some light foxing
On the back there is another advert for "Darton's Map Print and Chart Warehouse….Books of Roads and Fairs And Works highly necessary for the Traveller and the Man of Business"

The last entry in the booklet is “has the Queen any bropthers or sisters ? ” - later versions have 100 questions

This game consists of 30/36 cards (from William 1 (missing) to Victoria)
All the monarchs are pictured on horses
The backs give information on reign dates, succession and events dates. There is also a "Character word" ie Prudent, Devout, Humane to describe the monarch.
We have never seen this before

Kings & Queens - 30/36 cards, Hand colored, undamaged. These cards have been attached to a sheet with stamp hinges, probably awhile ago as some hinge have seperated from the backs, where this has happened the paper color is a little lighter.

The dates on the cards mainly cover th 12th, 13th, 14th, an 15th centuries with only a couple between BC55 and The Battle of Hastings

A prettier than usual dissected puzzle with a picture of a youngish Victoria on the box lid. The three scence at the top are Battle of Hasting, Queen Elizabeth at Tilbury Fort 1588 and Battle of Boyne 1690

One of the rarer of Jaques Card Games --- The suits are the emblems that represent England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales ie rose, thistle, harp, and Prince of Wales Feathers. The cards are numbered 1-5 and for each emblm there are 2 of numbers 3,4,and 5 and 3 of numbers 1 and 2. There are also 4 "royal" cards. A collecting game that any number of people can play (according to the rules)
